<<< maintained commitment and built loyalty to the community and stakeholders.

This is an achievement that we are proud of along with our Vision, which, cannot be achieved without forged partnerships for social economic and ecological sustainability for Tanzanians and people in Lake Victoria and the Nile Basin. On the 'Globalized World', this is our breakthrough and commitment to the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals -MGDs that can be achieved with such support from other development partners.

Vision
To catalyze and facilitate achievement of safe environment, which brings about secure natural resources that breeds sustainable development to the community.

Mission
''Creating Environmental awareness to the community of Tanzania especially those living along the Lake Victoria and other water bodies by empowering them to utilize effectively the natural resources without endangering their social well-being so that they can bring Sustainable Development.''

The ended period has witnessed of various project and emerged with new concrete partnerships. We established the Lake Zone Afforestation Project (LAZAP) in 2002 - the program for 10 years. This was a remarkable local initiative. We started catalyzing and transformation of local methods for conservation through information and communication technology (ICT) - In Kiswahili termed as Tuwasiliane Project VEFDA (T) with support from AMREF Tanzania and the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD).

Thanks to the Kurun Metsâopetajjât, Institute of Tampere and the Alternative trade Organization of Tampere, Finland for initial development of Fish project in Mwanza. The Fish Project has envisaged the development of Eco-tourism under organization's main theme of Environmental Economics. We appreciate for our partners - SADC Regional Environmental Education Program (SADC-REEP) in Southern Africa for collaboration on environmental education in the region, the Nile basin Society (NBS) for the opportunity they gave to VEFDA (T) to participate on the dialogue for 'Equitable Utilization of the Nile Basin Waters'.

Thanks to the 3rd World Environmental Education Congress (3WEEC), 2-6 October 2005 - the International Secretariat of Turin Italy gave us chance to present the paper for 'Eco-tourism in Lake Victoria'. The signed MoU for Implementation the communication and awareness conservation project for creation of Zero Impact as compensation to CO2 emissions through Afforestation project - LAZAP. This support will help the sustainable learning of our people -both adults and youth hence, mainstreaming realization of and create opportunities towards positive ecological and socio-economic change.

I believe that this communication strategy will enlighten for other initiatives and emerging new partnership opportunities. VEFDA (T) still seeks for partnership for together we can enable achievement of the bottom line - sustainable development in Lake Zone region and global.

Our standing and need for continuous collaboration are logically communicated in this useful electronic resource - web site.
