VEFDA (T) - Victoria Environmental and Fishery Development Association - Tanzania was formed in July 2000 by a merge of 16 groups in the regions of Mwanza, Kagera and Mara. The registrar of Societies in ministry of Home Affairs awarded registration of the organization SO. 10824 in February 2001. Since then, VEFDA (T) has developed a Strategic Plan 2002 - 2012 that covers the organization-prioritized activities on short term and long-term basis.

VEFDA - Thas also established the programme on environmental markets, resource reserve and management that shall deal with:
- Advocacy for protection of nature resources and promotion for establishments of botanical gardens and biosphere reserves.
- Provision of information and dissemination for sustainable Economics production for water, afforestation, wildlife, pasture and tourism with conservation of nature primarily oriented to the support of the environmental economic activities.
- Promotion of food technology and improved markets for agro-food, fruits and vegetables, fish and livestock food products, wild food and medicinal plants.
