ICT Awareness Workshop for Local Government in Mwanza Region
Spectacular achievements have been made by the ICT Awareness Workshop for Local Government that was held in Mwanza on 22 - 23 June 2007 at the City Hall.

A 6 points resolution was adopted by the participants who were drawn from Mwanza City Council, Magu District Council and media practitioners.
Those resolutions which were adopted are:
- That they have been highly sensitized by the workshop on matters pertaining to ICT4D
- That they will go to their Councils and start the process of identifying their needs with the aim of fully utilizing ICT4D in their respective Councils.
- That they are going to plan to make sure that employee of their Councils will be Computer literate.
- That they are requesting more support from COSTECH, IICD, SWOPnet and the Central Government to support their Councils to be networked with their wards.
- And that they will cooperate with SWOPnet Mwanza Chapter in achieving their goals in utilizing ICTs for catalyzing development in their respective areas.

The following are the major topics that were covered during the workshop: Basic ICT concepts for politicians and managers, introduction of eGovernment, e Learning, eHealth and GIS for land management.
